5 Tips on How to use Yahoo Answers to get Laser Targeted Traffic to your Website

One of the best places to generate quality targeted traffic to your blog or your website, and one that is often overlooked is Yahoo Answers.

Yahoo Answers was established in 2005 and is a community driven question-and answer based social networking site attracting around 200 million users worldwide, with around 15 million users visiting the site on a daily basis.

If you haven’t already started using Yahoo Answers then now is no better time to start. You could seriously be missing out on a unique opportunity to get some much needed traffic that is laser targeted back to your site.

Yahoo Answers works by allowing registered users to both ask questions and answer questions. You do this by simply searching for questions, preferably related to your niche or industry and answer them the best you can…

How can you better use Yahoo Answers to get traffic to your website?

  • You can gain good high PR backlinks to your site. Whilst the backlinks gained from Yahoo Answers are no-follow, the fact that it’s from a highly reputable website means that you can get laser targeted traffic.
  • Using Yahoo Answers is also a great way to brand yourself as an expert in your industry or niche.

Below I’ve compiled a short list of 5 ways to use Yahoo Answers to get more laser targeted traffic to your website.

  1. Post questions related to your niche or industry – this is a great way to learn from other like minded experts within your field of expertise, and of course expand your own knowledge database. You can then use that knowledge and apply it to your own theories or tactics for building your online business.
  2. Build a community of friends and connections – you can do this by actively engaging in Yahoo Answers at least a couple of times each week.
  3. Do some research and post as many problem solving answers as you can – Look at how other more knowledgeable users construct their answers and use that to create your own, but by no means copy and paste. Research the web using the web, reflect on your own knowledge and experience to provide the best answer possible to as many questions as you can. You can also add questions to your watch list to answer later.
  4. Vote for other user’s answers – again this is a great way to engage in the Yahoo Answers community and can help make you as many friends as possible.
  5. Use a custom Avatar – using a custom avatar is a great way to brand yourself as an expert in what ever industry you’re in; you can use your blog or website logo or the same image you use for your Gravatar on your blog even.

Do you use Yahoo Answers? If so how often and for what reasons… if you have any further tips and suggestions to add to the list above, please do so in the comments section below.

    Hi Fabrizio,

I’ve been using Yahoo answers for last few months and I basically use for fun purpose, I haven’t used it for backlink purpose of so but yes if I see the question is related to my niche then I don’t miss to drop my website link there. :)

It’s a great place and don’t use it like spamming, just answer the question which you know and ask questions if you need solution though if you ask any question then you lose your 5 points straight away.

    • I’ve been using Yahoo for a little while, not that long actually, but what I’ve noticed is that some people put a lot of trashy inappropriate answers which is a bit of a shame; Yahoo could do with regulating them better I think.

  2. I’ve been using Yahoo Answers since last year and YES it really brings a link juice back to your website. You just have to be careful not to make the commenting as spam or else Yahoo will delete the whole conversation.
