    Hey Rajkumar,

    Interesting article and I have a question for you regarding this change. You stated that some sites “with a lot of advertising and promotions experienced a steep drop in their position”. Does this mean that for a lot of blogs that have a ton of advertising on them will probably have seen a drop in page rank or possibly a hard time climbing up in Google’s eyes?

    I have a lot of people ask me my opinion about placing ads on their blogs and I believe that the occasional one here and there are fine but when they load them down they are not only hurting themselves but turning other people away. Would you agree or disagree? I definitely want to continue to share with them the right way to go about improving their sites but I honestly don’t think putting a lot of ads up is the answer. I want people to stay on my blog personally.

      Very good question, one of the things I’ve seen less and less of these days are blogs that use excessive ads above the fold. Once upon a time it was quite common to see many bloggers placing ads above the header, in the header and below the header, then at the top right sidebar and then one just before the body of content. In my mind that is excessive. I’ve personally never seen a drop in page rank or a struggle to get an increase in page rank than it already is due to too many ads, however I’m sure this has changed somewhat.

      Like you I believe that having one or two top paying ads above the fold is fine, I also believe that a maximum of 4 or 5 ads on any single post or page is ok too. Like you I want people to be able to stay on my blog and come back again and not get put off by distractive ads.

      Google are giving us something new to learn about everyday, but sometimes keeping up with all these updates especially of recent can be a bit of a time consuming task.

    Good article. One question, I have read that with Google Panda you should avoid article marketing, since Google does not like article marketing. I run a men’s health blog that contains product reviews and posts that link back to the reviews and other internal pages on my blog. I used to write articles on Ezine, but now only focus on my own blog or guest blogging.

    How would you distinguish article marketing from blogging in the eyes of the Google Panda?
