2. Link to your other social sites
Another way to promote your business is to link your Pinterest account to your professional Facebook page and your Twitter profile. Every time you post or re-pin on your Pinterest board, your Facebook and Twitter followers will be notified.
This might sound like a generic piece of advice, but here is a little-known fact to make use of: don’t make the mistake of total self-promotion; it’s a technique that tends to turn most people off. Try to post and cross-promote products that are not directly competitive with yours, but that would complement your product or product line. For example, if you make dining tables and chairs, post assorted decorating hints that complement dining furniture, such as floral centerpieces or ambient lighting.
3. Pay close attention
My final tip for using Pinterest to promote your business is; pay attention to your followers and work on creating new followers. You need to spend some time on the site and work on building your “customer base”. Look at the people who are following your boards and who is pinning your product. Follow them back—they’ll be more inclined to re-pin from your boards in the future.
Take some time to prowl around the site and find people who would be most likely to be interested in your product and follow them. Take it a step further and find interesting and complementary items to re-pin to your Pinterest account.
