So how do I build authority links to my blog? - I will share with you my strategies shortly… Link building or creating backlinks to your blog is vital if you want to make any reasonable impact, and represent any significant authority in the blogosphere, especially in your niche industry.
We all know that link building is in fact the back bone of off-page SEO; well let’s say it is the backbone of any successful website or blog full stop, besides having awesome content of course.
Long gone are the days of incorporating ‘black hat SEO’ techniques to build unnatural, unethical backlinks to increase search engine rankings, because as we’re all well aware, Google are no longer playing the blind man game and making these tactics easily acceptable, especially since it started heavily penalizing websites using such methods, with Penguin 3.9 update back in late July.
So in today’s post I want to share with you how I’ve been building authority and natural backlinks to Magnet4Marketing.
Before I make a start I want to make you aware of the importance of building a healthy link profile and that diversifying your anchor texts is also very important, check out the following post for more information about this –
OK, let me now share with you how I build authority links to my blog. Let’s begin…
Build Authority Links #1 – Guest Blogging
This is a biggie and I know you read about it a million times on other blogs and how important guest blogging is blah, blah, blah…, well it’s now even more important than ever before, and reason being is that it can help you build not just authority links, but also links that appear to come naturally to your website or blog, especially from sites that have quality content… and I’ve been involved in guest posting a lot more as of late.
The quality of the guest posts however I will point out, I believe should be of a higher quality than what you would put on your own blog, if at all possible. That’s what I’ve been aiming for, I leave the best posts for publishing on other blogs.
Consider looking at guest posting as putting out some kind of resume to a potential employer. You don’t want to just impress the audience, but you want them coming back to your own blog to see what other quality content you have to offer, subscribing and becoming regular readers too. But you may have your own beliefs.
Some blog authors, including myself, allow for one single relevant and resourceful link within the content, this should appear natural. The links in your author bio should also appear natural as well. Always read the guidelines of guest posts before dropping links into your guest posts.
Build Authority Links #2 - My eBook
I know what you’re thinking, how have I built backlinks to my blog with my eBook?
Well about a year back I published my eBook 170 Blog Traffic Tips, which I give away free on the blog, I should also mention that it has had over 600 downloads in the last 6 months…
When I created this eBook I also added suitable links to different posts on my blog that was relevant to the information in the guide, for further reading. This has allowed me to build what I call offline backlinks, thus generating additional direct traffic to my blog.
The links probably have ZERO SEO value, but the more eBooks I can give away, the more non-SEO value backlinks and more direct traffic I can drive to the blog. If you haven’t yet created your own eBook I would highly recommend it.
OK, so that’s the second way I’ve been building backlinks to Magnet4Marketing.
Build Authority Links #3 - Link Mashups
OK, now if you’re a regular reader, again you might have noticed my recent weekly link mashups, (another one is due out this week folks). In those link mashups I present between 8 and 12 top posts from in and around the blogosphere, mainly posts that provide value in the blogging, online marketing and small business categories.
My weekly link mashups have been very popular by raising the attention of the respective authors of the posts I’ve linked to. Those same authors have also shared my link mashups with their own audience and have some of them have also been so kind enough to approve the trackback links in their blogs, instantly providing me with a backlink.
Some people call it a link mashup, some call it a weekly roundup, why not try doing something similar on your own blog. Put together a roundup of posts from blogs within your niche industry and see what happens.
Build Authority Links #4 - Video Blogging
I’ve been really excited with using video to build some links to my blog. YouTube and Vimeo are great tools for doing this of course. I know you don’t get a do-follow link, but with the shear size of YouTube do you really care? You a have huge potential to get tons of targeted traffic to your blog or website through posting videos on YouTube, and one of the ways I’ve been doing this is by re-purposing content from my blog and turning them into mini video posts.
Build Authority Links #5 - Content Curation
Finally the last method I’ve been using to build links to Magnet4Marketing is by getting involved in content curation. Some people believe this to be a new phenomenon, but the truth is that we’ve all have done content curating at some stage or other, often without realizing it; each time you recommend a link on your Facebook wall or Group page or Google Plus, you’re theoretically curating content and sharing it with your audience.
I’ve been using sites like Pinterest, Scoop.it and Storify to help me collect and catalog interesting content from other niche related sites and some content from my own blog too. The more topics you can curate in your niche the better. Following other topics on Scoop.it is a great way to suggest links, maybe from your own blog and getting some backlinks too.
Well those are some of the tactics I’ve been using to build authority links to my blog; there are of course many other great methods and tactics of link building, if you have any you’d like to share, please do so in the comment section below as always.
