My Monthly Traffic and Income Report for July 2012

Hey folks, here is to hoping that you’ve all had a great month last month, I can hardly believe we’re in August, and we’re still waiting for summer to arrive here in the UK. Well regardless how fast the time is zooming on by it’s time for yet another delightful monthly traffic and income report…

Before I start off the monthly report as usual I have a few announcements and mentions to get out of the way –

Guest Posting

July saw lots of you guys and dolls submitting guest posts and whilst we’ve had plenty of great content to publish on the blog, we’ve also had to reject one or two of them. Just a reminder to some of you, if you’re thinking of submitting posts please make sure they’re unique and have not been published elsewhere (Read our Guidelines). Upon checking some of the guest posts we received last month we found a good half dozen of them had already been published elsewhere, thanks to a nifty tool called CopyScape.

Read: Why your Guest Posts are Being Rejected and How to Avoid it

I’d also like to highlight some milestones the blog achieved in July –

  • Reached 1,000 email subscribers through Vertical Response
  • Alexa rank now at 41,000 from 51,000
  • Published 30 Posts / 18 guest posts

OK time for the July traffic and income report, and once again I’d just like to remind you all, especially if you’re new here, why I enjoy sharing my online income and traffic statistics here on the blog –

  • Firstly, to help inspire and motivate other bloggers and new entrepreneurs wanting to start a blog or an online business working from home, to help them appreciate the shear amount of work that is required in building a profitable business on the internet.
  • Secondly, for me to be able to look back and see what has worked and what hasn’t worked over the last month or few months, so that I can make changes where and when needed to increase traffic and income.

Blog Traffic Report for July 2012

Let’s start with the traffic report for July.

Visits: 15,537 (5.78% Drop on previous month)

Unique Visits: 12,805 (10.08% Drop on previous month)

Page views: 26,392 (4.94% Increase on previous month)

Well unique visitors dropped during July in comparison to June’s traffic, a 10.08% drop to be exact, I put that down to the algorithm updates we saw rolled out by Google in the month. We’ll be working harder once again over the next month, which seems to be like an endless battle every time a new update is rolled out, to win back some of the traffic lost or maybe increase traffic. Despite unique visitors dropping, we saw a near 5% increase in page views and a remarkable improvement on bounce rate which settled at 74.34%, I’ll be happy when it’s under 70%.

Traffic Report Referral July

Here are some of the things I’ve done this month to promote content on the blog –

  • Guest Posts x 2 (BasicBlogTips, Bloggers.com)
  • Blog Commenting x 32
  • Installed WordPress SEO by Yoast x Improved on-page SEO on 550 posts
  • Bookmarked all posts in published in July on Pinterest, Scoop.it, LinkSubmitz, Digg and Stumbleupon

Income Report for July 2012

Right folks it’s time for the income report for July, and once again just to remind you that my income report is made up from multiple streams, not just from blogging. Some of the links below may be affiliate links; you can read our disclosure here –

eBay / PayPal Fees £65

Total Expense $155.00

Net total Income – $811.93

Another increase in gross income this month from last month’s $756.67, which again is a pleasing result. However, despite having over 600 clicks on Amazon products throughout July, not a single referral sale was made. I managed to do a hosted WordPress installation for a friend of mine which gained me $25 and also sold a 125×125 ad block to a private advertiser for $30, something I don’t usually do.

Affiliate income is slowly increasing and a much better month all round. I’m pushing sales on eBay this month, simply because I need to, so hopefully next month we’ll have an even better online income report.

What you can take away from this report

If you have low traffic like I have you can make the most of it by promoting the right kinds of products for your audience (affiliate products), but essentially focus your energies on building that list, which should be your number one priority after putting out quality content. Look for creating other sources of online income outside of your blog i.e. offering web services, selling on eBay, using Fiverr, flipping websites on Flippa.com etc.

August

Because I’ve been able to publish some great guest posts on the blog, it has given me some free time to focus on writing my new up and coming blogging eBook, which I’ll talk more about in the next income report.

Well that’s all I have this month, my goals for the month of August is to try and gain some traffic back lost to the hands of Google, as well as increase income from blogging and eBay and continue to work on my eBook. There will also be a fully updated version of 101 Blog Traffic Tips released in early September. Until the next report, have a good one, and keep striving.

Another Good Job Fab. Keep it up mate.
But Try to Increase your Visitor and why you are not using Aweber?
Amit Shaw recently posted..8 Things to Considering Before Buying a WebsiteMy Profile

    • Thanks Amit, I think I’ve hit a plateau with traffic but will need to work on a new strategy. I don’t use Aweber because it’s a little expensive for me at present. When I release my next eBook I will be signing up to aweber :)

  2. That is some decent increase in income I see from your previous income report. For me, it seems my passive income is decreasing. I was pretty much away from blogging and stuffs due to my studies and some personal problems for the past few months. So I am pretty much looking forward to this August. Best of luck to you too for this month bro, I hope you income doubles.

    • Hey Shiva, I always enjoy your visit here mate, sounds like you’ve been busy with studies and I hope you get to solve your personal problems. We all get stuck from time to time, life does throw some hard balls from times to time, I know how you feel. I haven’t been making much affiliate wise for months before recently and one of the reason was because I was focusing too much on getting more traffic and not monetizing what traffic I already had effectively. Keep offering readers the best products and services you believe they’ll find useful, keep focusing on building that list and you’ll get there. I made the decision to ditch adsense a few months back even though it was earning me around $100 a month, I did this in hope that my affiliate sales would increase and whilst it’s early days still, it is working. All the best mate :) Keep bringing us great content on Netchunks :)

  3. A Really BIG Thank to you Fab!
Am really inspired and motivated too (as I’m blogger too).
Income is really what anyone would easily be Very HAPPY with.. But, sad to see DROP in visits and unique visitors. Hoping they’ll (visits and unique visits) be shining once again.

Appreciate your work, you did in July! You do rock always.

    • Mairaj, your words make me smile and I really appreciate your support and every one of the readers support here. I always thrive on being able to motivate and inspire others and I’ll continue to do so for as long as possible :) Blogging and making money online is a united thing that we do. As the saying goes, we can achieve amazing things if we all work together and share things together, keep up the hard work my friend and continue to believe.

  5. Ehsan Ullah says:

Nice to see the earning is increased than last month. Thanks for sharing it. BTW, What do you think between Vertical Response and Mailchimp which is better?
Ehsan Ullah recently posted..Top 5 Reasons Why Forums Are Important For BloggersMy Profile

    • Thanks Ehsan, MailChimp is a great email service provider just like Aweber. I don’t use either of them because it’s expensive for me at present, so I stick to Vertical Response because it is affordable and so easy to implement. There is even a WordPress plugin to install opt-in code and customize as well as redirect visitors to a landing page after subscribing. The only down point with VR is that it doesn’t have an autoresponder, but that hasn’t stopped me from promoting my eBook and building a decent list with it. I think if you’re starting out list building, VR is the best option until you have a big enough list and afford to move to MailChimp or Aweber.

I really love such reports. It gives lots of options that I can use to monetize my blog. I will soon start the similar kind of series here on Bloggers Passion. Fabrizio, how is facebook popup promotion doing for you?

    • Hey Anil thanks for stopping by mate, I do enjoy doing my monthly report even if it isn’t as impressive as it should be because I enjoy sharing. The Facebook pop-up promotion is actually an awesome plugin and I have to say I’ve noticed a an increase in the number of likes I’m receiving in Facebook Insights statistics, do you use it? If not it’s highly recommended.
