Hey folks, here is to hoping that you’ve all had a great month last month, I can hardly believe we’re in August, and we’re still waiting for summer to arrive here in the UK. Well regardless how fast the time is zooming on by it’s time for yet another delightful monthly traffic and income report… online loans
Before I start off the monthly report as usual I have a few announcements and mentions to get out of the way –
July saw lots of you guys and dolls submitting guest posts and whilst we’ve had plenty of great content to publish on the blog, we’ve also had to reject one or two of them. Just a reminder to some of you, if you’re thinking of submitting posts please make sure they’re unique and have not been published elsewhere (Read our Guidelines). Upon checking some of the guest posts we received last month we found a good half dozen of them had already been published elsewhere, thanks to a nifty tool called CopyScape.
I’d also like to highlight some milestones the blog achieved in July –
- Reached 1,000 email subscribers through Vertical Response
- Alexa rank now at 41,000 from 51,000
- Published 30 Posts / 18 guest posts
OK time for the July traffic and income report, and once again I’d just like to remind you all, especially if you’re new here, why I enjoy sharing my online income and traffic statistics here on the blog –
- Firstly, to help inspire and motivate other bloggers and new entrepreneurs wanting to start a blog or an online business working from home, to help them appreciate the shear amount of work that is required in building a profitable business on the internet.
- Secondly, for me to be able to look back and see what has worked and what hasn’t worked over the last month or few months, so that I can make changes where and when needed to increase traffic and income.
Blog Traffic Report for July 2012
Let’s start with the traffic report for July.
Visits: 15,537 (5.78% Drop on previous month)
Unique Visits: 12,805 (10.08% Drop on previous month)
Page views: 26,392 (4.94% Increase on previous month)
Well unique visitors dropped during July in comparison to June’s traffic, a 10.08% drop to be exact, I put that down to the algorithm updates we saw rolled out by Google in the month. We’ll be working harder once again over the next month, which seems to be like an endless battle every time a new update is rolled out, to win back some of the traffic lost or maybe increase traffic. Despite unique visitors dropping, we saw a near 5% increase in page views and a remarkable improvement on bounce rate which settled at 74.34%, I’ll be happy when it’s under 70%.
Here are some of the things I’ve done this month to promote content on the blog –
- Guest Posts x 2 (BasicBlogTips, Bloggers.com)
- Blog Commenting x 32
- Installed WordPress SEO by Yoast x Improved on-page SEO on 550 posts
- Bookmarked all posts in published in July on Pinterest, Scoop.it, LinkSubmitz, Digg and Stumbleupon
Income Report for July 2012
Right folks it’s time for the income report for July, and once again just to remind you that my income report is made up from multiple streams, not just from blogging. Some of the links below may be affiliate links; you can read our disclosure here –
Other Affiliate Marketing / Blog
iPhone DevSecrets $57.19
Genesis Theme Framework $36.71
Elegant themes $58.50
Google AdSense $9.55
125×125 Ad Sidebar 30 days $30.00
Paid links (UKBusinesslink) $10
WordPress installation $25
Gross Income – $966.93
Web Hosting $9
Moonfruit SiteMaker $12.00
Paid Guest Post $50.00
eBay / PayPal Fees £65
Total Expense $155.00
Net total Income – $811.93
Another increase in gross income this month from last month’s $756.67, which again is a pleasing result. However, despite having over 600 clicks on Amazon products throughout July, not a single referral sale was made. I managed to do a hosted WordPress installation for a friend of mine which gained me $25 and also sold a 125×125 ad block to a private advertiser for $30, something I don’t usually do.
Affiliate income is slowly increasing and a much better month all round. I’m pushing sales on eBay this month, simply because I need to, so hopefully next month we’ll have an even better online income report.
What you can take away from this report
If you have low traffic like I have you can make the most of it by promoting the right kinds of products for your audience (affiliate products), but essentially focus your energies on building that list, which should be your number one priority after putting out quality content. Look for creating other sources of online income outside of your blog i.e. offering web services, selling on eBay, using Fiverr, flipping websites on Flippa.com etc.
Because I’ve been able to publish some great guest posts on the blog, it has given me some free time to focus on writing my new up and coming blogging eBook, which I’ll talk more about in the next income report.
Well that’s all I have this month, my goals for the month of August is to try and gain some traffic back lost to the hands of Google, as well as increase income from blogging and eBay and continue to work on my eBook. There will also be a fully updated version of 101 Blog Traffic Tips released in early September. Until the next report, have a good one, and keep striving.
