Magnet4Marketing Gets a Stylish New Look Powered by (in)SPYR Theme

Hey folks, yesterday we successfully completed the theme upgrade for Magnet4Marketing and we couldn’t be more pleased with the new cleaner fresher look. Magnet4Marketing now proudly runs on the (in)SPYR responsive child theme by SpyrMedia, built on Genesis theme framework.

We’ve been using the News Child theme from StudioPress since November last year, and thought that the blog needed something more solid, something a little bit more modern and cleaner to suit the awesome content. And of course we wanted a theme that you, our readers, would enjoy using.

About this theme

This is a unique first of its kind child theme for Genesis and it’s like no other. It is currently the most robust child theme on the market. The theme was created by SpyrMedia Web Design and includes 3 theme styles all built into one, and has a total of 6 colour options to select from.

One of the many features included in this theme is the (in)SPYR subscribe area, putting a subscribe box on the home page and one in the sidebar when viewing posts and pages. This was one of the main reasons why we chose this theme as we’re pretty big on email list building as you know.

(in)spyr theme

Another area we’re excited about is the responsive (in)SPYR FlexSlider, again this is a powerful and awesome content gallery slider that enables us to feature our top posts on the home page. We’ll be adding a few more of our top posts here in the coming days.

All the plugins work fine, but unfortunately just as we were getting into the swing of using PunchTab, it doesn’t seem to like this theme at all for some reason. Enabling it sent the site into fits and we were left with unorganized texts everywhere, so sadly we’ve had to disable it for now, we’re hoping to bring it back shortly. In the short time of using PunchTab we’ve also noticed how considerably slow it made the site load.

We’ve placed the main categories that are mostly used on Magnet4Marketing at the top of the blog in the main menu area, and we’ve added a second site navigation menu in the footer. So if you’re looking for the links to ‘Submit a Post’, ‘Resource Page’ and ‘Contact us’ check the footer.

  • Robust child theme
  • Attractive design
  • Dedicated subscriber box
  • Content gallery slider
  • Multiple theme styles all-in-one theme

  • No simple way to customize header / logo
  • Limited footer options

A few days before changing the theme we asked for your feedback via our Facebook page and we received some positive ones, so thank you all for your input. I’d also love to hear your comments about the new look below in the comment section. You can also check out the (in)SPYR theme for Genesis yourself here.

    Hey Fab,

Hey Hey, someone just made their blog look “FRESH”
It feels way more cleaner and slick than before, nice work bro.
I haven’t made up my mind on the font being used for the posts, it makes my eyes funny.

    • Fabrizio Van Marciano

Hey Simmeon, thanks for your feedback mate, much appreciated. We’re really happy with the theme of choice and the customization. We also chose this theme because the font was much larger than seen on the previous theme, but we’re still debating whether to use Georgia font, what do you think?

  • Samantha Wright

Slick theme, nice choice and customization. I’ve noticed it’s loading much faster than the previous theme, is it because you’ve deactivated the punchtab plugin or you think the theme is more responsive? I also like the font size and I don’t think Georgia font will suit it too well.

    • Fabrizio Van Marciano

Thank you Sammy, I think it’s a combination of both, I found with the punchtab plugin activated many of the posts that featured the rewards social sharing widget loaded very slowly. As for the font, I’m still getting mixed feedback. But what ever we change it to it will remain a larger font.

      • Samantha Wright

Oh I see, the current font is large enough to read, it seems a little thin that’s all. What family font is it?

        • Fabrizio Van Marciano

Yes I’ve now changed the weight of the font :) The font family is HelveticaNeue-Light and HelveticaNeue-Neue.

  • Robert Koenig

The theme is looking pretty stylish! I agree that Georgia may not be the way to go for the font, but I don’t much care for the current font either. It has an uneven weight about it. Otherwise, the blog looks clean!

    • Fabrizio Van Marciano

Thanks for your feedback Robert, you’re right I actually like the current font, though it was a little thin. I’ve now changed the weight of the font from 300 to 400 which seems much clearer.

  • Aditya

    Hey Fabrizio,
It seems like your website is celebrating new year with the new theme. :)
This theme is great and the font is much clearer to read.Hope you will find an alternative of PunchTab soon. One thing i like about this theme is it has 6 color forms to change.

Just like new and fresh content is important for the blog, changing theme of your blog gives a fresh look to your blog.

Hi Fabrizio, Again with goody one. I’m going to start visualization now. WOW, this is amazing. Subscribe area and plugin are very good.thanks for letting us know, i think you provide much info about another goody soon.eagerly waiting….

    • Fabrizio Van Marciano

Bhushan, I’m glad you approve of the new look mate. The subscribe box is a great feature for us and although it’s very early days and we’ve only had the theme changed over 24 hours ago, we saw a considerably more email opt-ins yesterday, could be coincidental but I’m hoping it’s because the opt-in form is more appealing then it was before. Enjoy your day bro :)

    HI Fab,

Wonderful Design, but the comment in response to other commentator is badly colored really dark too bad..
Anyway, Congratulations to Magnet4Marketing for this new Genesis Child Theme, hope it’ll make you grow more.. And you’ll be succeed..
A great design is really plays important role in many different things, such as it reduces bounce rate, increases the interest of a visitor, and others.. Nice One.

Hey Mairaj, always great to have your visit on the blog mate. Thanks for the practical feedback. I’ll take a look at the comment background colour, funny you should mention that as I was actuallty thinking that myself last night. I’ll see what I can tweak later on. You’re absolutely right in saying though, as a blog develops and becomes more authoritative and popular, one should ensure that not just the content is kept up to date, but also the look and feel, and the overall design of their site, I’m 100% with you on that one. Have a great day.
