It’s been another roller coaster month both online and offline, and once again it feel as if time is flying by so fast. I hope you’ve all had a great month during May and here I’m sharing once again my monthly income and traffic report. But before I get to the numbers I just want to make a few important announcements.
Just as in April I’ve found little time to blog due to commitments elsewhere in my online business world, as well as personal commitments offline. I had a week away from the desk in May (well deserved holiday), and we all celebrated the arrival of my baby boy Star B Van Marciano, who I’m so very proud of, and of course his courageous mum also.
OK let’s get started…
First of all, thanks to Amit Shaw and Maria Magher for their paid contributions, payments will be sent out on or before the 15th of May, I’ve had a little issue with PayPal causing the delay. I’d also like to thank all our other guest writers for their much valued contribution to the blog throughout May.
I’ve had an overwhelming number of interest for paid guest posting but I’m really looking for high quality, RELEVANT content that will encourage user engagement. Better luck next time for those of you whose posts have been rejected.

OK, so let’s start the report for May and once again I’d just like to remind everyone as to why I enjoy sharing my income and traffic reports –
- Firstly, to help inspire and motivate other bloggers and other individuals wanting to start a businesses working from home, to help them understand the shear amount of work that is involved in building a profitable online business.
- Secondly, for me to be able to look back and see what has worked and what hasn’t worked over the last month, and to make changes where and when needed.
Traffic Report for May 2012
So what has the traffic been like for month of May for everyone else? Have you had an increase or decrease? Do share with us, if you run your own income report you’re welcome to link to it in the comment section below.
This month our traffic has climbed back up slightly from the loss I suffered last month. Take a look…
Visits 15,164 (28.14% Increase on previous month)
Unique Visits 12,957 (29.82% Increase on previous month)
Page views 22,995 (23.65% Increase on previous month)
Aside from commenting on 2 to 3 of my favorite blogs each week I have not done anything else but post on the blog itself to promote the site. Here’s what I’ve been doing to the blog in May.
- Continuing to remove AdSense codes manually
- Removing thin content and poor performing posts from the blog (43 posts permanently deleted)
- Updating top performing content (re-writing, improving SEO etc)
- Using Broken Link Checker plugin to remove dead links
- Making affiliate links no follow
These are only a few tasks but it has taken me away from actually blogging or creating new content for the time being. There are still 23 pages of content to go through to remove AdSense and optimize further.
Traffic Overview for May
Referral Traffic Sources
Bounce rate is up by 3.01% from the previous month’s 73.88% to 76.10%, again this is something I’m constantly working on improving. I’ll be focusing on ways to increase referral traffic to both improve bounce rate and to try and level out the playing field where organic traffic seems to dominate.
June won’t really see much time invested in marketing and promoting the blog as such, as I continue to make what I already have at Magnet4Marketing better, so I’ll continue to frisk through posts and improve the user experience for our readers.
Once the tweaking is all over I’ll look forward to going back to doing a lot more guest posting, building backlinks and promoting the site further.
Income Report for May 2012
My income report is generally made up of multiple income steams, eBay, Amazon, affiliate marketing, contextual ads, blogging etc. If you want to read our disclosure please do so here:
Please note that the report below may contain affiliate links
Amazon Associates $7.66
Other Affiliate Marketing / Blog
PremiumPress Themes $15.10
Genesis Theme Framework $170.98
Google AdSense $45.06
Gross Income – $695.43
Net total income – $291.48
So as you can see income for the month of May was low, expenses were high also which left me with less than $300 of net income generated online. I still managed to earn some money through AdSense even though ads are only appearing on posts that I’m yet to remove.
AdSense VS Affiliate Earnings
It’s a little early to be analyzing the impact of removing AdSense ads from the site and seeing if affiliate earnings have increased. Affiliate wise I’ve earned $193.74 ($45.06 AdSense) in May, as apposed to April’s affiliate earnings of $113.27 ($32.66 AdSense) and March’s $165.88 ($86.19 AdSense), so whilst there is a little increase, it’s not enough to go by yet. Let’s just see how I get on over the next couple of months.
Whilst June isn’t going to be less hectic I really need to try and organize my time better. That is my goal for the month before anything else. Let’s hope for a better report next month. Until next time, happy blogging and making money online what ever you do.
