Hey folks, I just wanted to let you all know that I’m currently away on holiday, away from the desk and have been for almost a week now, and sadly there are only a few remaining days left of my first summer holidays in the Canary Islands.
I know this isn’t a travel blog of any sort but blogging is about sharing the things you love right?
I’ve been enjoying chilling out by the pool and having a grand tour of this stunning volcanic Island with some great friends over the last couple of days.
I’m currently staying in Gran Canaria, which is one of the larger islands part of the Canary Islands situated on the north western coast of Africa.
Gran Canaria is also the second most populated island of the Canary Islands and has just fewer than 1 million people cohabiting here. There are 7 islands making up the volcanic originated Canary Islands. I visited Lanzarote, Feurteventura and Tenerife a good few years ago and I personally think that Gran Canaria is the prettiest of the Canary Islands.
Blogging on Vacation
I’ve also been able to update the blog a couple of times throughout the week, replying to comments and checking my emails in general, however access is limited so I’m not able to do everything that I normally would from the desk. I once dreamt of owning a blog that could one day pay for a vacation, and although it’s taken me a year to save enough money, I did it and I can say I’m blogging on vacation. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not as successful at blogging as a lot of other people might be, but it paid for my holiday and that to me is cool.
I took away with me a Dell Latitude Netbook and my iPhone 4S, and the complex in which I’m staying in has Wi-Fi anyhow.
I also took a couple of books to read on my holiday, one of which I’d highly recommend is the exclusive biography of Steve Jobs written by Walter Isaacson. It is definitely an inspiring book to read and provides a great insight into the life of a modern digital world legend that is Steve Jobs…
Not that I can’t wait to get back in the office because truthfully, I hate going home after a really nice break away, especially to a place like this, however we should be back in the office properly on 28th May and back in the full swing of things, so see you all soon.
I’ll leave you with some photos from the holiday so far, some taken with a Pentax Digital I-10 12.1 megapixel camera and some with my iPhone 4.
Please note that I’ve added some Amazon affiliate links to the things I’ve taken on my holiday

Thanks Mario, this is my second visit to the GC, and I love the place so much, I actually miss it now that I’m back home lol. Never mind it just means I have to work harder to fund another trip away hopefully before the winter.
Sounds like a lovely time was had in Gran Canaria, the canaries are a great choice for a few days or weeks in the sun. Now the low cost airlines have regular services from both the uk and Spanish mainland, Ryanair are flying to the islands from Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona and a number of other Spanish cities. This makes it possible to have a few days in say Barcelona then head down to the Canary islands to get some sun. Have a look at Fuerteventura, its a lovely island with amazing beaches and is very chilled out.
Well we’re already planning our next trip back the the Canaries and Feurteventura was on the list of them to visit. We’ll certainly take a look
