Google+ Gets a New Look and this is Just The Start…

You’ve probably noticed that Google has launched a complete redesign of it’s social networking platform Google+. Google are currently in the process of dishing out the new design over the next couple of days, so if you haven’t yet seen it take effect on your profile, you soon will do.

Personally I preferred the old look to some degree, it felt a lot simpler to navigate around and things felt as if they were centered. I’m not too sure I’m keen on staring at the left hand side of my screen each time I want to navigate but I’m sure I’ll get use it.

So the navigation is now on the left hand side as apposed to across the top. You can also arrange the apps in which ever order that suits you, including adding them to the ‘more’ tab giving you a cleaner ribbon. Your profile picture and connections are now on the right hand side of the page, along with the chat and start a hangout widget.

Google Plus New Look

Vic Gundotra mentions on the GoogleBlog that the new clutter free navigation ribbon will make way for new features, what Google calls the next ‘big feature’ and ‘big features’ to come for Google+. We’ll just have to watch this space… You can check the full in-depth post on GoogleBlog.

Google have also made some great improvements to their Hangout feature and photo sharing, which we of course know is an important part of social media.

So the big question is, what do you think of the new redesign? Do you prefer the old look or welcome the new one? We’d of course love to hear your thoughts and reactions. We also invite you to paste and share your Google+ profile URL into your comments, so we can check it out and promote new connections.

  2. They’re also forcing people to sign up for G+ when they create a new Gmail account, hahaha. We had to make a dummy email address in the office yesterday and that’s what happened.
