From time to time we all hit the wall in blogging. The wall I refer to is the one that you come face-to-face with when you simply don’t have any ideas rolling around in your head, as to what to write about next on your blog… Either that or you have lazy bloggers syndrome…
Blogging is a challenging feat… there will be times when you will feel overwhelmed by topic ideas that you have, and there will be times when you simply don’t. Not having any post ideas in the tank can sometimes lead to discouragement in blogging, but fret not, as in today’s short post I want to share with a few simple ideas that will help you generate post ideas for your blog.
Generating Post Ideas from External Sources
My first tip for you would be to try and generate post ideas from external sources, i.e. reading other blogs and comments, checking the forums, seeing what people are ranting about on Twitter or Facebook, listening to your favourite podcasts, reading a magazine or the local newspaper, reading an eBook, watching video’s on YouTube… and so on.
Make a rough list of post titles you might want to consider working on later, it’s good to have a few in the bag for a later date also.
Generating Post Ideas from Internal Sources
If you struggle to find anything to write about outside of your blog, take a look at your own content. See what comments people have left you on top performing posts, which is why replying to comments and striking up conversations on your blog is essential. Snoop around your email inbox’s and see what you can find, read your old posts and branch off new post ideas from the content within, email other bloggers or readers asking for their suggestions about what to write about…
5 Types of Posts to Consider
