New Look Twitter for 2012

There’s a new look Twitter about… I’m sure you’ve probably seen by now that Twitter has a brand new look hot off the press… well almost. Twitter (Affiliate link) launched its new interface to a few number of users back in December (2011) but has made it available for all just a few days ago.

The total redesign is a godsend with improved navigation and better access to many of its features that was once somewhat difficult to find…

The new design gives us two columns still; only that the navigational column that used to be on the right is now on the left. There are also some new options available in the left hand column such as whom to follow, message composer and trends.

By clicking on a tweet within your timeline you can view an expanded section with details such as timestamp, where the tweet was made via, and a hyperlink titled details that will take you to a direct link of that tweet.  In the expanded view, there are also options to reply, retweet and add to favourites.

By clicking on a user within your timeline you can view a detailed information pop-up box about that user, and options as to what to do with that user. As well as this there is also information on the user’s number of followers, following and tweets. There is also a grey highlighted text beneath the user’s name that tells you that this user is following you.

In the main navigational bar at the top you can check out the @Connect tab to view the most recent interactions related to your mentions, and the #Discover tab to discover stories related to your tweets.

In the top navigational bar there is also an expandable profile tab which provides a drop down menu with a direct link to your profile page, direct messages, settings and links to other resource and help pages.

On the far right there is a tab which you can hit at any time regardless of the page you’re on to compose a new tweet.

What do you think of the new look Twitter?

So all you avid Twitter users; what do you think of the new look Twitter… Are you jumping up and down with joy over the new design, couldn’t care, less or preferred the old look? Let me know your reactions below in the comment section.

Twitter just switched it up on me. Personally, I don’t like it – I was finally getting used to the old layout – to me it was just a simpler layout. But change is usually a good thing I guess and I will get used to it.

  2. I got access to new Twitter in Early Jan when I deleted my old Twitter account and started a new one ;)

I don’t really like it that much (which is why I am using Tweet deck for now). But, yes there are really good improvements in the new Twitter.

    Anyways, thanks for the post
