This book is essential if you’re completely new to WordPress and want to be able to learn all about professional blogging’s most popular open-source publishing platform, WordPress. The book is in paperback form and covers all the essential topics such as WordPress basics, theme designs, plug–in development, social media integration, SEO, customization, and running multiple sites plus much more. This book was one of the first guides that served its purpose when I was exploring the avenues of blogging and which platform to use almost 2 years ago. The WordPress All-In-One for Dummies 2011 version offer much more and is definitely one of my top recommended blogging books.

ProBlogger’s Guide to Your First Week of Blogging

This is in my opinion one of the best guide to get your hands on as far as starting your blog correctly from the very start, and who other than to guide you himself than one of blogging’s biggest names, Darren Rowse.

The guide is designed to work alongside you, in the first all important week of starting your blog. It covers topics such as establishing your online presence and setting the foundation for your blog to grow, publishing and building presence, and content development, understanding your blog as a product, putting yourself at the front of your blog, how to define and demonstrate quality and how to strategize for success. A must read for any newbie blogger.

This guide can be downloaded and comes in the form of a PDF, so you can take it away and read on you laptop or tablet computer even.

This is yet another essential guide by ProBlogger’s Darren Rowse. In this guide Darren provides you with a daily task in which to achieve in your quest to build a better blog. 31 Days to Build a Better Blog is filled with top tips, ideas, and essential bonus tasks and generally contains all the information that every serious blogger out there is craving for.

WordPress 3: Search Engine Optimization

Ok so you’re completely new to blogging, you’ve never even owned your own website let alone a blog. If there was one all important piece of advice I had to give you, it would be for you to learn SEO. If you’re serious about making a success with blogging then you need to understand how search engine optimization works, and for the avid newbie to WordPress, this guide is one of the most essential blogging books in my mind.

Understand why SEO is important for building traffic and converting that traffic into paying customers, learn and understand why search engines like Google loves WordPress for the simple fact that WordPress makes the job of the search engines a lot easier. The WordPress 3: Search Engine Optimization guide is highly recommended.

Digging into WordPress

Finally, this is one of my all-time favourites, Digging Into WordPress. This PDF based eBook has over 400 pages of valuable information especially if you’re choosing WordPress as your main blogging platform (as you should be). Written by Chris Coyier & Jeff Starr, the guide is packed full with great tips and tricks that will help you tap deeper into WordPress and get the absolute most from your blog, customization and development.
