3 Easy Ways to Add Fresh Content to your Website

Why is it that search engines like Google love blogs? It’s because blogs are updated with fresh quality content on a frequent basis. If you want to improve your site’s search engine rankings regardless weather it’s a blog or not, you need to keep it up to date with fresh content. But sometimes this can be quite challenging, especially if your website is an ecommerce type or some other form of small business website.

Asides from having a well written ‘about us’ page and a unique content marketing page, and of course the content of your home page, you’ll need to also find other ways in which to feed your site with fresh content on a regular basis.

Here are 3 ways in which you can do this quite easily.

Integrate a Blog

The first and foremost obvious is to integrate a blog into your website. If you use something like WordPress to build your site with, or Moonfruit, who has their own CMS, you can achieve this quite easily. If you can’t integrate a blog then consider using a free blogging platform such as Blogger or WordPress.com and link that to your existing website. You can use a blog to share news and announcements regarding any aspects of your business.

Upload & Tag Photos

If you regularly upload photos to your website such as images of your own products and services, don’t forget to tag them with short descriptions and appropriate keywords.

Add a Testimonials or Feedback Page

Another great suggestion to feed your website with fresh content is to add a feedback or testimonials page, if you don’t already have one. If you don’t fancy doing that, why not consider adding a guest book even.

As well as providing your site with fresh content, a testimonials or guest book page is a great way to show off your company’s feedback from recent clients.

Which do you think is better: A company starting out on its own blog, or having all its articles on a popular blog with back-links to their website? I would go with the latter, because it takes a lot of time and efforts for new blogs to generate organic traffic.

    • Hi Raj, yes you’re absolutely right it would. I would also go for the latter. I used to post on a very popular art blog which allowed for backlinks back to my own art site, which also improved my search engine rankings a lot as well as generate tons of traffic, because it was already there. At the same time I also think that having some form of blog for your own company website is beneficial for adding fresh relevant content, whether one uses it to break news and announcements, or post updates and announce special offers etc, a blog has a great use and benefits for this.

Yes, I agree with you. While it is good for a company to publish posts on a popular blog and create backlinks to their site, every company should have their own blogs as it would provide authority and brand to their company. In addition, all press releases, news and updates can be posted. Email list building and other communications can be done in an effective manner with a company’s own blog.

The other option mentioned is also good. However, I feel that it should be done in addition to a company’s own blog.

  2. Yes three of above mentions ways integrating a blog, uploading and tagging photos and adding a feedback page give us good opportunities to update fresh content for our website but i think the most authentic and reliable way to update content is blog posting on your business website.

  3. The testimonials page is often underrated – I think people should use it more as it is unique content NOT written by the owner of the website. It gives you a stronger brand, but also some SEO advances (content marketing) you might not have mad your self.

Is there any SEO benefits to writing a blog with good content and having a blog feed on your homepage? It seems like every time the feed is updated it would be fresh useful content going to your homepage. Please let me know.
