Successful Promotion of your Online Offers!

We have all done it… sat up in the middle of the night with a fantastic idea for a promotion to increase online sales, and well done for the fabulous idea by the way, just one slight problem though… even the best ideas are bound to fail ,if your customers don’t know they exist!  So today I’d like to share with you a few tips on how to make sure that your online promotions are marketed properly and exposed well.

The main tip I can give you is to split your potential promotional customers into two categories; previous customers and new customers as they really need to be treated in two separate ways.

To promote your offer to your previous customers, create a branded promotional email newsletter and within it, make sure the feature is the promotional offer itself. Remind the customer of the fantastic service quality they received when they last purchased from you.  Make them feel valued and that the promotion is a way of giving them something back as a reward for doing business with you.

The difficult part is to get your promotion across to new customers and the most important and effective way to do this is to ensure it has pride of place on your landing page, making the customer instantly aware of the offer. So before they shop for your product or service, they are already aware and more inclined to go for the promotion; as we all like to feel we are getting bargain!!

Ensure your offer has terms and conditions so you are giving the new customer the peace of mind that it is what it is, you can even use some testimonials from other customers that have previously benefited from one of your promotions.

A good tip is to look at your online directory listings because many of them now allow a paragraph for text, and if you edit your entries with your promotion you can entice people to your site, and it can even help you stand out from your competitors on the directory lists.

Don’t forget to search engine optimize your promotional landing page, often this is overlooked as it will also help you to stand out from your competitors in the search engines, so ensure you update your promotions with an inclusion in the short description section of your website.

Another media to use is of course the social networking sites, ensure you have your promotion advertised well, as this is a free and positive way of ensuring the promotion reaches an even wider audience.  You could offer an incentive for customers who forward promotions on to their contacts etc.

Write a small handful of posts about the promotion itself and what it can offer to customers and post it on the many free of charge blog sites including your own, ensure the posts gives background information and links through to the relevant pages on your site and that you post them under the right categories.

The above tips are extremely cost effective, so it shouldn’t cost you anything to ensure you are getting a better exposure on your promotions.  However there are also some paid methods that you can use to help promote your promotions further if you really wanted to, such as Google AdWords, Facebook ads etc (although if you do the above correctly you will find there is no need to).
