So how do you get more followers on StumbleUpon? Read on and I’ll share with you my top tips… StumbleUpon is one of my favorite social bookmarking tools, over the years I have had reasonable success in using StumbleUpon to promote traffic to my blogs.
Whilst there are now many other competitive platforms out there, such as Pinterest, Scoop.it and Stori.fy, StumbleUpon shouldn’t be knocked off your list like I see so many people doing. It is still an extremely powerful social tool for breaking news and promoting content and increasing quality backlinks to your blog or website. But like any social platform that’s worth using, you need followers and targeted ones too.
So to get the most from Stumble, you need to get more followers, there is no simpler equation, more followers, more shares, more likes, more traffic.
OK, in this post we’re going to look at some of the tried and tested strategies on how to get more followers on StumbleUpon. These strategies I’ve used myself a dozen times and still work today in 2013!
If you don’t yet have a StumbleUpon account, then what the heck have you been waiting for all these years? signup for one now by clicking here, it won’t cost you a thing.
6 Ways to get more followers on StumbleUpon
OK, let’s get started…
1. Brand your profile…
Whilst there isn’t much options for customizing your profile, you can give it your brand image as with all your other social networking profiles. So that means adding a well written bio and a profile picture. You should use your blog logo or the most popular Gravatar image that you use everywhere else, to help other users recognize you from other sites.
2. Find and follow other Stumblers
Next you can find Stumblers with similar interests as yours simply by going to the follow link at the top of the page and browsing the recommended category, and then following some people that takes your interest, don’t go overboard and follow too many, you don’t want to be flagged up as a spammer, I think there is a limit for each day on how man people you can follow anyways.
If someone follows you back, great. If they don’t you can choose to stop following them by checking out who you’re following that’s not following you back. Unless they’ve providing you with topics and subjects that you’re really keen on, you can choose to stop following them and move on.
On the same page you can also follow your friends by hitting ‘follow friends’. You will be prompted where you want to find friends from – such as Facebook, Twitter, or Google, or even send out an email friend request.
3. Be Resourceful and relevant
Add and share useful and resourceful content and pages from the web don’t just post random links.
If you already have a few followers, check out what they’re stumbling and sharing to get an idea of their interests, work on improving your StumbleDNA. Don’t ever post spam, you’ll just end up annoying your existing followers and they’ll end up removing you of their follow list, even worst reporting you and you may end up with no account.
Remember, the more useful and attention grabbing content you share, the more it’s likely to be shared and even go viral, the more others will want to follow you.
4. Share your Pages
Don’t just share on StumbleUpon, but share your discoveries on Twitter, Facebook and Google+. And remember, if you don’t ask you don’t get, so ensure to let your other followers on other social sites know that they can find you on StumbleUpon too, post a link on your Facebook page, send a tweet saying ‘hey catch me on StumbleUpon’ or share one of your Stumble posts (images work best) on Pinterest.
5. Add and share your link everywhere
Add a link to your StumbleUpon user profile everywhere you can think of, email newsletters, Facebook timeline, Podcasts, YouTube videos, SlideShare etc.
6. Follow me link
Add a ‘follow me’ icon or link in your website or blog to encourage your blog visitors to follow you on StumbleUpon.
So those are essentially what you need to do to get more followers on StumbleUpon, its not rocket science and the list doesn’t stop there. I’m sure you can think of a few others ways too.
