Over the past four weeks we’ve covered plenty of tips on using Facebook for business, and today I’d like to continue on the topic of Facebook for business by sharing with you 5 ways to effectively optimise your Facebook business page.
When we talk about optimising a Facebook page generally this involves making your page more attractive to potential visitors landing on your page, and also implementing methods that will make your page more SEO friendly, so let’s take a look:
Shortened URL
The first and foremost thing to do is to give your Facebook page URL a cleaner look, so to do this simply ensure that you have logged into your Facebook account and then go to the Facebook Username page to complete the setup.
FBML Landing Page
Secondly you’ll want to create a custom landing page for your visitors to see when arriving at your Facebook page. Your landing page can contain anything about your business from a series of promotional products, a discount code for becoming a fan of your page or simply an email newsletter opt-in form. Check out our tutorial on creating a Facebook landing page for more specific details on how you can dothis.
Corporate Profile Logo
Corporate image is everything in business, so ensure that visitors to your page recognise your association by uploading and using a corporate image such as a company logo or product. This also helps to give your page a more fresher and professional look.
Company Information
Your Facebook page also allows you to add your company information and bio, so ensure this is well written and up to date, and don’t forget to write your company bio with SEO in mind. Add your company contact details and a link to your business website.
Facebook Notes
Finally Facebook notes! I’m a big fan of the notes section on Facebook pages, and so should you be. Use them wisely to write short articles, blog post excerpts or just for breaking news regarding any aspects of your business using Facebook notes. Facebook notes are also search engine friendly and can add great SEO values to your page.
So there you have it, 5 simple steps to optimising your Facebook page. The process doesn’t take long at all and can make a massive lasting first impression on new potential business contacts wanting to join your business page.

I never considered the notes app.
That could be a better way to personalize the page and add value, too. Make people see they are getting communication that others aren’t getting. Very cool, man!
