The whole subject of ‘make money online’ to many people who have already tried and failed, is a well and truly exhausted subject, and here’s why.
When we think about ways to make money online, most people run for the hills, with the beliefs that ‘scam’ is usually associated with ‘make money online’. Yes this is true to the smallest of smallest degree. But it is possible to make money online without having the wool pulled over your eyes. I have made good money online over the last few years with blogging, and I didn’t need to waste money on courses, systems and other bullsh1t promises, in fact there are many other people out there doing it too.

To understand how making money online works, you first have to understand that what ever method or strategy you use, you have to think of it as a business venture. Whether you choose to sell on eBay or build your own website, it’s going to be some kind of business for you.
Below I’ve outlined 23 proven ways to build a business and start to make money online without having to spend a penny, well in some cases, but realistically not much money at all.
Make Money Online: 23 Tries and Tested Ways
Blogging is something everybody is jumping on the band wagon to do, and is also one of my favorite ways to make money online. Starting a blog is pretty simple, and the costs of setting up a professional blog are very low, like a few dollars per month low. The key to succeeding with making money online with blogging is, selecting the right niche, and getting lots of organic traffic.

2. Sell advertising space
This method is much easier said than done. Again you’ll need to have a website of some sort or a blog with plenty of traffic to attract potentially interested advertisers. You can also use third part ad network sites such as BuySellAds or Puxee.
3. Do affiliate marketing
I love to do affiliate marketing and that is the primary method in which I use to monetize my blogs. However you don’t need a website or a blog to start making money online with affiliate marketing. You can use blogging sites that are already set up such as HubPages and Squidoo.
Affiliate marketing involves promoting products and services from companies that are willing to pay you a commission, for directing visitors to their website, products and services, and who make a purchase through your affiliate links.

4. Sell sponsored tweets
You can make money online with your Twitter account; however you need some big followers first to succeed with this. A sponsored Tweet is simply a mention of someone’s business, website, blog or services on your Twitter account, in the form of a single tweet. You can set how much you are willing to charge for a tweet. You can use sites like SponsoredTweets.com to get started.
5. Use Facebook promoted posts
If you have your own product such as an eBook or tangible goods, consider using Facebook promoted posts on your Facebook business page to promote your sales page to increase sales and profits.
6. Sell your own products
You can sell your own products pretty much anywhere online these days, ideally you would want to sell products on your own website or your blog as these this would be the most cost effective. You can further promote your products using social media and email marketing.
7. Sell on eBay
eBay are still by far the the kings of buying and selling stuff online. Unfortunately eBay may not be as cost effective as it once used to be; however back in 2006 I built my online art business around eBay, and used the popular platform to rake in over $3,000 per month. If you’re thinking about selling on eBay again you need to approach it with a business mind, and my best tip would be to try and sell your own products.
8. Create your own eBook and sell it
This is a really good opportunity and cost effective way to make money online. Create your very own information product such as an eBook about anything you want, or something you think might be useful for others, promote it on your website and sell it at your own price. You can even use a marketplace such as e-Junkie or how about creating an Amazon Kindle eBook?
9. Offer web services
If you’re skilful at something that other people will beneficial and are willing to pay money for, such as web design services, email marketing, advertising services, WordPress installations, coding, writing or what ever, then why not sell those skills by offering your services online. You can use sites like Fiverr to promote and sell your ideas, suggestions and services.
10. Content / Freelance Writing
There are tons of online companies and webmasters out there in search for good copy writers and content creators. You can even sell your own content on sites such as Constant Content, might be worth a check into.
11. Sell on Fiverr
Fiverr is an exciting and relatively new way to make money online, by selling quite literally anything and everything you want from your old bike to 1,000 Facebook fan page invites for $5.
12. Buy & sell websites

13. Add Google AdSense to your content rich pages
Google AdSense is a third party contextual advertising revenue network which allows you to place relevant ads on your website or blog. AdSense is one of the most widely used methods of website monetization.
However, it’s much easier said than done, as to be successful with Google AdSense, you need to be generating a lot of search engine traffic, as well as know how to optimize your content and ad placements for increased CTR.
14. Sell photos online
One of the biggest successes on the internet is the diversity of images being made available online. If you’re a bit of a photographer yourself then why not consider trying to sell some of your photos on sites such as iStock or PhotoBucket. Or even better why not start your own photography blog.
15. Fill in online surveys
This quite a tedious, in fact it’s probably one of the most boring ways to make money online, I’ve tried it and hated it… But as they say every penny counts, so if you fancy filling in online surveys for extra pennies register yourself with sites such as PeopleString and SurveyHead to make a start.
16. Become a freelance web designer
Many people wanting a blog or website, or in fact many small business looking to build some online presence wouldn’t know where to start with building a website. If you’re a natural at coding or putting together web pages, consider setting yourself up as a freelance web designer. You could start with small projects and work your way up.
Another good way of making money on the internet is by helping small business owners and individual with their SEO needs. Of course it does help greatly if you have a good knowledge of basic and advanced SEO practices beforehand.
18. Offer internet marketing services
There are many small businesses that don’t have the time to spend on marketing and promoting their website. If you’re a keen internet marketer yourself with some good background and knowledge on the subject, then you can really make money online by offering your services to those small businesses, bloggers and perhaps other budding internet entrepreneurs.
19. Buy and sell domains
Buying and selling domains can be a great way to make money online, and potentially this could be huge money. Buy a domain name with a domain registrar such as GoDaddy, install WordPress, add some original content, build high quality backlinks to it and increase its page rank and authority, then sell it for a big sum of money, simples.
20. Start your own online directory
The web has lots of online directories for almost everything. If you can create a profitable business in offering a directory service for a particular industry, then do it. It could be absolutely anything, some examples would be; a directory of local restaurants, hotels and guest houses, a directory of trade persons, such as painters and decorators, plumbers and carpenters…
21. Offer professional video recording and editing services
Everyone loves videos and companies will pay good money for a quality video to add to their portfolio. If video media is your thing and you’re a wiz kid at using Adobe Creative Suite and a digital video recorder, then this is a career waiting to happen. Use it to make you money online…
22. Sell graphic design services
Again, if you’re a wiz kid at graphic design or have experience with Photoshop or Adobe, how about creating your own graphic banners and web pages and flogging them online. eBay might be a great place to start. You could also get into t-shirt printing and sign writing too.
23. Create company logos
Online businesses, bloggers, website owners love to have their own unique image. Brand awareness is everything to them, so it’s those kinds of fishes in the big pond that will be looking for professional logo design services. If you can offer your services in this area, then again there is money waiting to be made.
