8 Effective Ways to kill your Blog!

One of our main topics of interest on Magnet is to provide you with sound tips, advice and tutorials on becoming as successful as possible with your blog endeavours. However the purpose of this post today is to provide you with some insightful ways that will that will tentatively annoy your visitors, destroy your search engine rankings and make your blog completely volatile to being bombarded with spam, hacked into and eventually busted and I’m sure well think of a few more horror scenarios for you as we go along.

“You gotta be kidding me… What?”

A bit of an unusual one and I know what you’re thinking; why on earth would anybody want to write or even read about those kinds of things!

In light of this I hope that you will use the information here to steer your blog well away from letting any of the following things take place.

So let’s begin…

Get a Crappy Blog Theme Design

Ok the first on the list is to get a really crappy blog theme going, there’s plenty around all you have to do is take a look at the endless list of trashy free themes that are available. Not all of them are but the majority of them are really badly placed together with very limited amount of customisation, a shear amount of security flaws, badly optimised for SEO and much more.

Find an Unreliable Hosting Company

I personally don’t know of any but if you can find yourself a cheap and nasty and unreliable web hosting company for your blog then this is a good way to bust your blog right up. All you need is guaranteed regular downtime and that will be enough to nark anyone off, especially your visitors, if you get any that is.

Employ Bad SEO Practices

One of the best sure fire ways to not rank at all in the search engines is to have no SEO whatsoever. So what I mean by this is don’t use the All in One SEO pack or WordPress SEO if you’re using WordPress, use nothing so no one can find your putrid blog.

Let Spam Corrode your Blog Posts…

You know the ones I mean, the long winded male enhancement pills, debt recovery, link stuffed, gambling ridden spam comments that you find in your spam folder on a daily basis. All you have to do is approve them all and you’ll not only annoy your readers again if you have any, but also attract loads of other spammers to leave their trash on your posts.

Create Crappy Content

This is in fact much easier to do than creating compelling and informative content for your readers. Creating trashy, unreadable content with mind bendingly bad grammar and spelling errors will surely keep readers away from your blog.

Play the Silent Phantom

This is very easy, simply don’t interact with anyone on your blog, don’t bookmark or share your posts, and don’t reply to queries or answer any questions and you’ll soon be a goner.

Update Infrequently

If you rarely ever update your blog, chances are you’ll get no or poor visitor count and as a result you’ll get very little interest from any regular readers as well as the search engines. But if you’re creating trashy content attached to a list of spammy comments with no SEO on a badly designed blog theme hosted by Arkham Asylum web hosting, then why even worry.

Forget Marketing

Marketing and promoting your blog will only get you more spammers and probably more abuse from users. With a bit of luck you might even get your blog hacked into, black listed and vaporised.

Well that’s all I have for you for now, don’t take any of this at heart it’s simply a little bit of Saturday morning humour. However on all serious notes young Daniel San! Do the complete opposite of all of these and you’ll build a rock solid and successful blog.

Enjoy for now, have a great weekend.

    • Hey Shiva, thanks lol. I’m glad you see the humor in the post I wanted to characterize the things that you should try and avoid when getting into the first few months of one’s blogging venture. Instead of writing a do and don’t post I thought it would be great to add a little sarcastic humor into it. Pleased that you found useful.

  2. I totally agree with all ov the above information in this post. Spam can be a really annoying thing. My website recieves about twice as much spam comments than real comments. A good thing is that Akismet can protect the blog pretty well and having a captcha code blocks almost all spam instantly.

Other than that, get a good theme such as Thesis, Genesis or Hybrid, they are all well known and coded themes. I usually stick by this golden rule: for every minute I spend on writing content for my site I will also spend a minute promoting my site. It has worked out very well so far for me. =)
