Building backlinks to your blog is essentially an important part of improving your search engine rankings, SEO and driving targeted traffic to your blog. We’ve written several posts on the subject of building backlinks, however in today’s post I’d like to address some of those methods for building backlinks to your blog as apposed to a website in general.
So let’s begin…
Blog Commenting
One of the most obvious tips that you’ll probably read about on just about any blog specialising in blogging tips and SEO, however you can optimise the way you comment on other blogs firstly by commenting on blogs that do-follow, blogs that are niche related, blogs that rank higher than yours and of course read before commenting, so that you can write a productive comment that will encourage readers to click back onto your own blog.
Check NetChunk’s very resourceful post on 400+ do-follow CommentLuv blogs and see if there is any blogs that relate to your own that you can start reading and commenting on.
Social Bookmarking
Social bookmarking is another fantastic way to gain free backlinks across the social network sites. Ensure that you provide the social tools required on each of your posts so that your visitors can share them across the social sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Stumble, Reddit and many others.
Social Network Sites
Of course without saying that you should be using the social networking sites to gain further exposure for your blog. Facebook has an amazing underrated tool called notes which can be found on user profiles and fan pages.
Facebook notes allow you to create short blog style posts where you can add anchor links back to your own blog. These notes are search engine friendly and so importantly count towards building you backlinks.
You should also consider using the free online shortlinks service to create and paste links from your blog, to niche related open groups within Facebook.
Author Box
The author box on your own blog is a great place to place a backlink in anchor form to your blog’s home page, it all adds up.
Guest Blogging
Finally, guest blogging is probably the best way to build quality backlinks to your blog. Unfortunately sometimes this can be a tricky vacancy to fill, but do your research and enquire to any blogs within your niche about guest posting, chances are they’re probably looking.
Guest writing for other blogs can be greatly rewarding, providing you with an author box and the ability to create a backlink to your own blog from every guest post you create and publish.
Good luck.

Some great tips on link building, Fabrizio. By far Blog commenting is the easiest technique from the list and Guest posting the hardest. But Guest posting is the best method from amongst all the above because we get quality links from guest posts.

Blog commenting takes so much time, and the links are usually or of poor quality. Based on the time it takes to do guest posting vs blog commenting, I think guest posting is the easier option.

You listed all the right methods, Fabrizio. I think guest blogging works in a brilliant way for bloggers specially. A guest blogger shares with the readers, interacts with the commenting tribe and leaves behind a link tempting enough for the reader to click. Its really an amazing technique.
