I recently went on a wild goose chase in search for some additional SEO tools to use on my blog, and having tried and tested a few I’ve made the decision to use and stick to WordPress SEO by Yoast for now, here’s why.
If you’ve recently started your own blog then you’ll know just how important creating search engine optimised content is. The desired affects are improved search engine ranking for your keywords or phrases for every single post you put out, and better search engine rankings also brings increased revenue and lower advertising costs.
WordPress SEO by Yoast
I run my blogs on Genesis Framework which already comes with some very powerful SEO tools, however I was looking for something a little more broad minded and so I’ve started to try out WordPress SEO by Yoast.
This tool is really simple to setup and use. In each and every post you create you can make substantial changes to the SEO title and META description accordingly using targeted keywords and phrases. One of the benefits of this is that you can create an SEO title that is somewhat different from your post title, so in theory you get to make the most of both worlds i.e. the opportunity to use two SEO optimised titles.
The snippet preview shows you exactly how your listing could appear in the search engine search results page; which is great as you can keep tab on focus keywords and generally tidy things up a little.
In addition, the advance options tab gives you total control over what is visible over the internet. For example you can make certain pages or posts undetectable by checking the no-follow or no-index radial buttons, once again giving you total control. Other features include custom canonical URL’s, breadcrumbs, permalink cleanup, XML sitemaps and RSS enhancements plus much more. In addition to all these features the main feature is the simple fact that this is all free to use. There are other SEO plugins available on the market which comes at a cost, but personally I’d recommend using this myself.
Don’t use an SEO tool for your blog? It’s about time that you did, check out WordPress SEO for yourself.
