6 Ways to Increase your Local Business Popularity!

As business owners we passionately know that creating good customer experience is the ultimate key to being rewarded with repeat business and good credibility. We recently touched on the subject of improving customer service experience as well as looking at why feedback is important to your online business. We also produced for you a two part crash course in small business marketing which you can find by clicking here.

Today I’d like to outline 6 affective methods in which you use to increase your business popularity; this would ideally suit small local public sector businesses such as plumbers, electricians, carpenters etc, that have just started out.

Door to Door Flyers

Distributing flyers is a tedious task in itself but can carry the message across directly to many potential clients looking for your business services. A few colleagues of mine have tried this method and believe it to be inefficient, when I asked them how many they distributed they replied with a few hundred. If you’re going to distribute flyers make it worth while, depending on what line of business you’re in you should really look at producing a few thousands at least and target not only residential areas but local businesses too.

Email Marketing

Another powerful method is through email marketing. I know we touched on this subject many times before but you simply cannot ignore this. Almost everyone has email facility and therefore you should try and source an email list of local clients and businesses in your area if possible and create an affective email marketing campaign. This isn’t a quick solution to increasing your business popularity but can certainly help you over the course of time.

Local Advertising

What are you going to do to advertise your business to your local community? How about some press advertising in your local paper or newsletter? You should also use local vendors and supermarkets that allow window or notice board ads. Your local library is also another place to advertise.

Business Cards

I’m sure you already have this one on your list. Business cards are ideal not just for giving out to customers but you can also ask for permission from other local businesses to place them on shop counters, post office counters, libraries, petrol stations, supermarkets etc.

Word of Mouth

As your business matures along with your advertising efforts people will start talking about your business services in general. So by dominating your local area with targeted advertising your business you can become the talk of town quite easily. Back this up with great business credibility and you’re on your way.

Business to Business

One of the things you can certainly benefit from is talking to other local long established businesses about the area in which you work in. Let them know what line of business you’re in as they will more than likely come across many more clients than you, and should they know someone looking for a plumber for example, they can then point them towards your direction.
