Getting traffic flowing to your blog isn’t by any means easy. It requires hours of relentless typing and scratching your scabby head wondering what the hell you’re going to do next to promote your blog. Eventually after 25 cups of coffee and 16 toilet visits, you’re left with a word document open, and still wondering what to write about or where to go to find information on getting visitors to land on your blog.
Well I’m sure you’ve read all the regular tips and advice before; link to this site and that site, submit to this site and that site, comment on this blog and that blog blah, blah boring! In effect the reality is that you may think you’ve done enough but truth be told too much is never enough. Ok, let’s get to the nit gritty traffic wrenching stuff.
- Do Article marketing
- Use Bloggup!
- Join an online forum
- Read & comment on high PR blogs
- Create good content marketing material
- Submit to highly ranked internet business directories
- Submit to blog directories
- Create two or three good lens in Squidoo
- Add your email subscription form to every post on your blog
- Create a Facebook fan page with a killer landing page
So that’s the easy part, now let’s take a closer look.
Do article marketing
Article marketing provides you with the opportunity to create great niche related content that can be used to improve our search engine ranking providing that you ensure good SEO and keywords are used. Create an attention grabbing author box so that readers can find out who’s behind the compelling content. Here are a few pointers for you to consider, making your article marketing more affective.
Aim for high PR content directories, here’s a list for you to consider, oh and yes these are sites that do follow just in case you’re wondering:
http://knol.google.com/k Alexa Rank 1 – PR7
http://ezinearticles.com Alexa Rank 106 – PR6
http://hubpages.com Alexa Rank 179 – PR6
http://www.squidoo.com Alexa Rank 200 – PR8
http://www.buzzle.com Alexa Rank 594 – PR6
http://www.technorati.com Alexa Rank 855 – PR8
This should be enough to get you motivated, you can always view more article directories later.
Use BlogUpp
Use Bloggup to drive more readers to your blog by placing the BlogUpp widget in your own blog. Once approved BloggUpp will advertise your blog to targeted readers. Check it out here.
Join an online forum
One of the best ways to build your own blogs readership is to join online chat forums in your niche and start a debate or two.
Read & comment on high PR blogs
A great way to start interacting with other bloggers in your niche is to read other blogs and then leave a comment, and I don’t mean leave comments like ‘Great post thanks for sharing’. I mean a real comment and you can only do that if you actually read the article, you never know you might learn something or two.
Create good content marketing material
To create good content marketing material you need to observe and achieve several objectives; find out what your readers are most interested in from your blog, what methods are you going to use i.e. email newsletter, white paper or eBook and correct application of SEO/Keyword.
Submit to highly ranked online business directories
Submit your blog to a dozen or so online business directories.
Submit to blog directories
Submit your blog to all the major blog directories. Check this post out it provides a comprehensive list of directories to submit to.
Create a lens in Squidoo
Squidoo contains an awesome online community of users all sharing useful and resourceful information on the internet on custom created pages called lenses. Signup and create one or two good lens keeping in mind the phrases “content marketing”, “SEO and good key wording”.
Add your email subscription form to every post on your blog
If your readers enjoyed reading your last post they’re more than likely to want to return for more, so save them some time by offering to update them by email. Place your email opt-in form at the end of every post on your blog. If you’re using something like Aweber or Vertical Response then check out our post on how to install your opt-in form on your blog pages.
Create a Facebook fan page with a killer landing page
Finally last but never least, create a fan page using Facebook and then create a landing page offering your unique services to visitors landing on your page. You could even place an email opt-in form in exchange for something free and resourceful such as an eBook.
