6 Essential Mobile Blogging & Social Apps for Android

If you’re the kind of blogger that spends a considerable amount of time out and about, perhaps you work long hours away from home or perhaps you’re a bit of a globe trotter who likes to blog on the go. In any case if you have a Smartphone at hand then you can pretty much keep all your online commitments such as your social network interventions and blog up to date. Here are six essential mobile blogging and social apps for your android phone to get you going.

1. WordPress for Android

The first one being the most obvious and important of them all is the WordPress app for Android. You can download this for free from the apps centre or marketplace and is pretty simple to set up. Check out our post for instructions on setting up WordPress on your android phone.

2. Blogger-Droid

If you use Blogger instead of WordPress then yep, there’s an app for that one too. It’s called Blogger-Droid and again it’s completely free to download from the apps marketplace. With Blogger-Droid you can share your published posts on Twitter and Facebook.

3. Facebook for Android

Now for your social networking interventions, this is a must if you want to keep your friends and fans up to speed as to what’s going on, and for posting new links from your blog to share.

4. Twitter for Android

Another cool little app is of course the Twitter app. This is an essential bit of kit to have for sharing your tweets from your blog to your followers whilst being on the move. I spend a considerable amount of time tweeting from my Smartphone than I do on a conventional computer.

5. Adobe Reader

Download and read PDF files with the Adobe Reader android App. This is an essential tool for getting hold of those eBooks on the web or for uploading PDF files from your PC to read later.

6. PayPal

Do you sell stuff on your blog? Maybe you sell eBooks, subscription fees or web services. The PayPal app keeps you up to date with all the payments received whilst you can also send payments too.

7. Tumblr

Want an easy way to blog? Check out the Tumblr app.

8. Buzz for Android

Get the Buzz app on your Smartphone and post buzz from your home screen. Use the camera to add photo’s to your posts and share your location.

9. TweetDeck

TweetDeck is an app that organises your social interventions between Twitter, Facebook, Buzz and Foursquare. Stay up to date with all your feeds from one unique dashboard.

So there you have it quite a cool selection if I must say so myself, please give us a shout if I’ve missed any, post your comments below, thanks.

These apps are great on my phone and I love taking them away with me on holiday and not have to worry about updating my blog or keeping tabs with my followers :-)
