Skype 5.0 for your Business Review!

Today I’d like to take a look at the new Skype 5.0 for business. I’ve just downloaded it and so I’ve been finding my way round and transferring my contacts over, so lets take a look.

Ok upon signing into Skype I’m greeted with the Skype Home Interface if you like, and as you can see I’m at the top with my profile image and special greeting message, I also have my list of contacts right below me for quick easy access.

Let’s start with the top menu tab, and on the Skype tab you can choose your online status and setup call forwarding, and generally access other settings such as profile, account, privacy settings, change password settings and signing out. Your contacts tab allows you to have access to add and import contacts, create new group as well as organise and categorise your contacts. In the conversation tab you can generally access and view old messages, and conversations etc. The call settings tab allows you to access call, video call, call a phone number and audio settings.

In the view tab this allows you to view contacts, recent conversations, voice messages, files sent and received, and SMS messages as well as access your profile, and Facebook updates which I’ll elaborate on a little more in detail later. The tools and help tab are pretty much self-explanatory.

Ok on the dashboard itself I can see my current status and list of contacts and in green it shows who in my list of contacts is currently online. The tab button Call Phones allows you to make phone calls from Skype.

On the main window, by clicking on the Profile tab you can access, view and edit your public profile such as contact, email, website etc.

Now for the Facebook tab and this is new altogether as you can now access all your Facebook newsfeed through your Skype dashboard, pretty neat I think. You can also disable newsfeed should you not want this feature.

The feedback tab allows you to send your comments and feedback to Skype, enjoy. Get Skype for your business!
