Marketing your Blog without the use of the Internet…
These days we completely rely on the use of the internet to promote our blogs or websites. In this post I’d like to share with you some top offline marketing tips and tricks for you to use to generate interest and drive traffic to your blog.
1 – Rant about your blog endlessly…
I do this quite often to the point where I bore a lot of people… not really but its good to talk about your blog to as many people as you meet, rant on about it to your friends and family and hopefully they’ll rant about it to their friends and families in a good way hopefully.
2 – Press release…
Why not submit a post to your local newspaper or newsletter covering your local district. You can write about an interesting topic depending on what your niche is. Occasionally I’ll write a short post and email it to my local newspaper maybe a post from this blog about small business marketing and they’ll be kind enough to publish it along with my blog URL too, give it a try.
3 – Business cards
Business cards these days are cheap as chips to get hold of. I got a couple of thousand printed off from Vista Print. What to do with them is up to you, but I suggest you have a drive around and ask business owners if they’d be kind enough to take a couple of hundred from you to pop at the reception desk, works for me so can’t see why it can’t for you. I also get in the habit of leaving mine at dinner tables, guest houses, hotels, public toilets even. Pop down to your local library, college, medical receptions and loads more other places I’m sure you can think of. This is a great way of getting the word around about your blog. They’re also ideal if you attend blogging or internet marketing seminars in you area.
4 – T-shirts…
Get yourself some printed T-shirts again you can get this done from Vista Print for peanut shells. An effective form of free advertising is to wear it and get out and about with it on. Who cares about fashion or how sad you look, you want your blog to be known then get it seen. If you have a corporate branding image like my blog has the M4M in red and black then get it on a T-shirt along with you blog’s URL.
5 – Laptop skins…
I read an interesting excerpt in John Chow’s book Making Money Online about free advertising using custom made laptop skins, ideal if you blog out and about and away from your desk.
6 – Window decals…
Again free advertising by getting some window decals printed for your car or van or what ever it is you’re driving. Cheap as chips from Vista Print again… If you’re out and about shopping and park in the street or car park, just think how many people will see your ad with you blog’s details and all important URL on it.
7 – Bluetooth…
This works great if you’re out in public with lots of people about. Change your Bluetooth device name to your blog’s URL, then make it visible for other devices to see. You can even add a slogan if you’re really sad enough like me…
8 – Press advertising…
If you have an advertising budget then get your blog mentioned in newspapers and magazines. It can be quite costly but if you can stretch the cost why not?
